If it’s up to premier Gladys Berejiklian, there won’t be another edition of Defqon.1 Australia anymore. An amount of 30.000 visitors celebrated the 10th anniversary of the festival yesterday, but lead to the death of at least two youngsters. “It’s unacceptable, I don’t want to see that event ever again.”

Despite the zero-tolerance policy in Australia – of which we’ve heard people get randomly picked, stripped and even are not allowed in if they were found clean – around 700 people needed medical assistance during Defqon.1 Australia. Eventually two people died and another thirteen visitors ended up critically in the hospital; overdoses of drugs is probably the cause of them. Gladys Berejiklian, the Premier of the state New South Wales, says that the state can prevent the event from happening. “It’s an unsafe event and I’ll do everything to make it stop from happening again”, she says.

“Drugs tests are out of order”
Quite surprisingly, Berejiklian don’t want to use any drug test, where users can test their pills. “There is no such thing as a safe drug. Pill testing is not a solution, it’s giving a green light to use those drugs”, is what the Premier says. The own responsibility of visitors was not discussed by Berejiklian.
